Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega star in 'The Gallerist,' a dark crime comedy scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on December 4, 2026. Roadside Attractions and Vertical Entertainment secured the U.S. distribution rights for the film, placing it in a late-year slot following its initial showing at the Sundance Film Festival.

The project is directed by Cathy Yan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Pedersen. It joins a roster of recent works by Yan, including 'Birds of Prey,' and features a genre blend described as a comedy-thriller. The film is produced by Portman alongside Jonathan King, Sophie Mas, and Ash Sarohia.

Portman plays Polina Polinski, a Miami-based art dealer preparing for a major presentation at Art Basel. Ortega portrays Kiki Gorman, Polina's assistant. The plot centers on Polina's decision to transform a shocking incident involving a deceased individual into a career-defining artistic opportunity. This choice leads her into a dangerous scheme.

The ensemble cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Zach Galifianakis, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Daniel Brühl, and Charli XCX. The film serves as a satire of the art world, utilizing the high-stakes environment of the Miami art scene to drive its narrative.

The December 4 date positions the film in the final quarter of 2026. Distributors have not announced a digital release date, but the theatrical window is the immediate priority. The production brings together a mix of established dramatic actors and pop culture figures for this specific genre project.
