Ambrosi Brothers Cutlery Company has been grinding and honing kitchen steel in Kansas City for 67 years, moving from a truck to a home workshop to a storefront and now a Midtown address at 3023 Main St. Jesse and Marco Ambrosi founded the firm in 1959; the first shop opened at 15th and Main before the business relocated in 1991.
The operation now sits with Jesse's son, Alfred Ambrosi, who runs it alongside daughter MaryAnn Lutes and son-in-law Spencer Lutes. Professional kitchens across the metro send their tools to the counter, and walk-in home cooks are served as well.
Sharpening runs $2 per knife for while-you-wait service, with drop-off available as an alternative. The shop processes about 1,500 blades daily, and a recent visit for a sharpening job wrapped in 10 minutes.
Behind the counter, Ambrosi stocks cutlery imported mainly from Germany, Switzerland and Japan, ranging from small boning knives to large multipurpose chef's knives. The inventory also covers cookware including Smeg stand mixers, stainless steel pasta makers and meat grinders.
Ordering and shop details run through abcutlery.com.
