Apple released version 27.2 of its operating systems on Sunday, introducing a memory feature for Siri that allows the assistant to recall past conversations. The update also changes the visual identity of Apple Music and expands the AI assistant's reach to five new languages.
The rollout follows a series of beta releases that hinted at deeper integration between Apple's services and its AI tools. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to bring Siri AI to more regions, a move that culminated in today's release. The new software is available for download across iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision devices.
Siri can now access voicemails and Messages attachments to provide answers. Users can also select specific apps to exclude from Siri, Search, and system suggestions. The AI features are currently available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, in addition to English. These capabilities are not yet available in Europe or mainland China.
Other changes include context-aware suggestions within Messages, such as converting text invitations into calendar entries. The Photos app now supports SynthID watermarking, and the Apple TV app allows user profiles. iPhone owners with the Duo foldable model can now use the Apple Pencil, a feature previously promised.
The macOS Golden Gate 27.2 update mirrors many of these changes, adding contextual memory for Siri and the new language options. It also contains bug fixes. Developers found code references in the macOS beta for new gesture recognition in Photos, Notes, and Safari. These references may relate to unconfirmed touch support reports for the next MacBook Pro.
Apple has a public briefing scheduled for this Wednesday. The event is expected to reveal the next generation of MacBook Pro hardware.
