Midterm elections arrive Tuesday, Nov. 3, but the final window for early voting closes Monday, Nov. 2. The deadline creates a split schedule across the Kansas City metro area, depending on which side of the state line a voter resides.
In Kansas, the clock runs out at midday. Johnson County keeps all 12 of its advance voting locations open from 8 a.m. to noon. Wyandotte County offers a single option: the county Election Office, which operates on the same 8 a.m. to noon schedule.
Missouri extends its final day of no-excuse in-person absentee voting through the evening. The Kansas City Election Board office remains the only site open within city limits, serving voters from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outside the city, Jackson County provides two locations: the Independence Absentee Office and Woods Chapel Community of Christ. Both open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
Clay County residents must go to the county Election Board office at 100 W. Mississippi St. in Liberty. That office runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is the sole early voting site for the county on Monday.
Those who miss these specific deadlines must vote at their assigned neighborhood precincts on Election Day. Polling places in both Kansas and Missouri open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
