Mayor Artem Semenikhin stated that Konotop has remained without electricity for a fourth straight day following Russian strikes on the night of October 23. Speaking to Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne, the mayor confirmed that the city still lacks power as of the night of October 26. He noted that the blackout has cut off most of the city's gas supply as well.
Semenikhin described the strain on essential services, noting that local schools and the city hospital are now operating on generators. Water delivery has been restricted to two specific windows: from 06:00 to 09:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. The mayor emphasized the uncertainty of the situation, writing that there are no forecasts at all for when electricity will return.
The regional power distribution company, Sumyoblenergo, said emergency repair crews are working around the clock to fix damage to energy infrastructure. The company indicated that the completion timeline depends on security conditions and the ability of crews to access the damaged sites safely.
The power outage began after Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on the Konotop hromada shortly after 03:00 on October 24. The strikes hit energy facilities, a school, and residential buildings. Later that afternoon, a separate drone attack struck a civilian agricultural business in the district, killing a 31-year-old farm worker and injuring four others.
