The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 103-87 on Wednesday in Inglewood, California. The victory marked the second time in one week that the Lakers have beaten their local rivals.

Quentin Grimes scored 23 points for the winning team. Collin Sexton, who entered the game as a reserve, contributed 21 points. That total stands as his highest scoring output of the current season.

Luka Doncic did not play due to back stiffness. The Lakers had also competed the day before, marking the first instance this season in which they played on consecutive days. Head coach JJ Redick described both rest decisions as precautionary measures.

Star forward Ziaire Williams missed the action with left foot pain. Without Doncic, who averages 36 points per game, the Lakers relied on depth. Six players finished with double-digit scoring. Austin Reaves had 16 points and Matisse Thybulle recorded 15. Both Sexton and Thybulle made four three-point shots each.

Keaton Wagler led the Clippers with 21 points, a career high for the rookie. The Clippers, now 1-3, dropped their third straight game. They lost to the Lakers by eight points on Friday. Rui Hachimura missed the matchup against his former team due to left quadriceps stiffness.

The Lakers improved to a 4-1 record. The Clippers fell to 1-3 on the season.
