Once Upon a Farm pulls Tractor Wheels snacks over choking risks
The company is recalling all flavors of its baked bars after reports that the texture can block toddlers' airways completely.

The FDA has issued a warning to parents regarding a popular toddler snack that has allegedly caused total airway obstruction. The agency received reports of young children who could not breathe after consuming the product. Some of these incidents required emergency medical services and hospital observation.
Once Upon a Farm is voluntarily recalling all batches of its Tractor Wheels bars. The recall covers every flavor, size, and variety sold under that name. It includes all lot codes and expiration dates. The company stated it received three specific reports of potential choking hazards.
The FDA noted that the bars form a dry, sticky mass when chewed. Standard choking interventions, such as back blows and the Heimlich maneuver, may fail to dislodge this mass. The agency did not specify the total number of reports it received, but the details point to a serious physical danger for young eaters.
John Foraker, the chief executive of Once Upon a Farm, said the company is reformulating the bars. He stated the goal is to ensure the products meet the highest standards. Foraker emphasized that the company's mission is to improve child nutrition by doing what is right for customers.
The affected items include three specific recipes. These are Apple, Sweet Potato, & Spinach Tractor Wheels; Strawberry, Pumpkin, & Beet Tractor Wheels; and Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower Tractor Wheels. No other products from the brand are part of this recall.
The bars are sold in most U.S. supermarkets and retailers, including Costco, Target, Walmart, and Amazon. Customers should not open or consume the recalled items. They can return the product to the point of purchase for a full refund or contact care@uponafarm.com.
