RBI Austin has begun construction on a permanent 33-acre campus in East Austin.

The organization, a Major League Baseball affiliate, will operate from its own Youth Development Complex at 7401 Loyola Lane starting in late 2027. This facility replaces the leased spaces the group has used since its founding in 2009. The new site will serve as a year-round hub for the 1,700 children currently enrolled in its programs.

The campus design prioritizes both athletic training and academic support. It includes an 115,000-square-foot outdoor field for baseball and softball, along with a 30,000-square-foot covered turf area featuring batting cages. A headquarters building will house classrooms for mentorship and job training, a weight room, and administrative offices. Executive Director Matt Price stated that the spaces are intended to support growth in academics, athletics, and spirituality. He described the mission as helping children live out their purpose through health, education, and faith.

Financially, the nonprofit has secured $7.2 million of the $15.1 million required to complete the project. The remaining $7.9 million is the target of a final capital campaign phase. The Nolan Ryan Foundation, based in Round Rock, was credited with making the project possible. Travis County Commissioner Jeff Travillion committed to providing local government assistance as needed. He noted that the complex provides a safe environment for youth to learn and build camaraderie.

Participation outcomes demonstrate the program's impact on higher education. All 23 students from the 2025 and 2026 classes are currently attending college, with 21 involved in collegiate athletics. David James, MLB vice president of baseball and softball development, highlighted this trend. He observed that former RBI participants are increasingly becoming coaches and working with professional clubs. He said the league aims to make athletics available to all children regardless of cost.

The organization aims to expand its reach significantly upon opening. RBI Austin expects to double its annual enrollment from 1,700 to 3,400 within three years. The complex will also host community events such as movie nights and graduation celebrations. Reid Ryan, CEO of Ryan Sanders Baseball, described the site as a whole-child community experience. He called it a baseball program combined with a community center that will serve as the heartbeat of the east side.

Local residents have expressed support for the permanent presence. Barbara Scott, president emeritus of the Colony Park Neighborhood Association, stated that the organization is a good fit for the community. She said residents are grateful for the choice of location and look forward to the differences it will make in the lives of local children and families.
