Tzachi Braverman, the chief of staff to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is expected to face criminal charges in the coming days, according to Hebrew media reports published on Monday, November 3, 2026. Justice Ministry officials indicated after a hearing last month that they intend to pursue specific counts against the senior aide. The planned indictment includes charges of fraud, breach of trust, and obstruction of justice.
The legal action centers on an alleged secret meeting between Braverman and Eli Feldstein, the primary suspect in the leak affair. Prosecutors suspect Braverman told Feldstein that an investigation into the disclosure was already underway. He allegedly suggested he could halt that investigation if Feldstein was directly connected to the matter. Feldstein and a second central suspect were arrested several days after this alleged encounter.
Feldstein and Jonatan Urich, a senior media adviser to Netanyahu, have already been charged with transferring classified information with the intent to harm state security. The accusations state that the two disclosed material shortly after Hamas killed six hostages while Israeli troops approached their location beneath Rafah in southern Gaza. The leaked document was an internal Hamas memorandum that Israeli military intelligence had acquired.
The memorandum, which was about nine months old at the time of disclosure, appeared to indicate that Hamas had no interest in reaching a hostage agreement. According to the allegations, the document was passed to Germany’s Bild newspaper to bypass Israel’s military censor. Later media reports suggested that Bild distorted the contents of the memo to support Netanyahu’s argument that Hamas was responsible for delaying a hostage deal.
The ongoing allegations have blocked Braverman from assuming his new role as Israel’s ambassador to the United Kingdom. He is currently in a separate investigation involving suspected forgery and fraud. That inquiry concerns the unlawful alteration of records in the Prime Minister’s Office related to the events of October 7, 2023. Neither the State Attorney’s Office nor Braverman has commented on the Monday reports.
Prosecutors previously announced their intention to indict Braverman but were unable to file the formal charges before his hearing took place. The delay has left his status in the government ambiguous as the legal process moves toward a final decision on the Bild leak case.
